OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

The School on Chaotic Oscillations and Pattern Formation is organized to continue the series of International Schools held in a holiday hotel on the bank of the Volga in the neighbourhood of Saratov from 1985 with a three-year interval. The School was always focused on the problems of nonlinear dynamics with an emphasis on the most actual topics. The main topics of the 7th School will be distributed systems, spatially extended systems, objects and models with noise, synchronization and phase dynamics. Applications of fundamental research and methods of nonlinear dynamics in biology, physiology and medical diagnostics will be considered. To keep up the traditions, the School program will contain a discussion of fundamental problems and perspectives of nonlinear dynamics development and such applications as radiophysics and electronics, processing and transmission of information, and education.

SCHEDULE:
The School schedule will include lectures of invited speakers, oral presentations, poster sessions, mini-symposiums for young scientists and discussions.

PRELIMINARY LIST OF INVITED SPEAKERS AND TOPICS

I. Fundamental problems of nonlinear dynamics

II. Distributed systems and ensembles of coupled elements with complicated dynamics

III. Synchronization and phase dynamics

IV. Influence of noise on the processes in nonlinear systems

V. Applications of nonlinear dynamics methods in biology, physiology, medical diagnostics, information systems, radiophysics, electronics and other areas of science and techniques

VI. New and interesting, but not traditional

The expected invited lecturers are also:

G.T. Guria (Moscow, Russia), S.N. Gurbatov (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), L.V. Yakushevich (Moscow, Russia), G.Yu. Reznichenko (Moscow, Russia), G.D. Kuznetsova (Moscow, Russia), A.M. Sergeev (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), G.G. Malinetsky (Moscow, Russia), L.A. Gribov (Moscow, Russia), B.N. Poizner (Tomsk, Russia)

Discussions

In addition to the invited talks, the oral and poster presentations are planned. Oral and poster presentations will be selected by the Program Committee on the basis of the submitted short abstracts. We plan to publish all accepted abstracts before the School. Instructions for abstract preparation can be found in the attached form. The deadline for submission of short abstracts is June 20, 2004. The accepted contributions will be placed in the School Web site and their authors will receive an invitation. This invitation will contain all necessary information on the way of payment of the registration and accommodation fees.

Overhead projector and multi-media projector will be available for presentation.

The prospective participants are invited to fill in the enclosed registration form and send it by e-mail to the Organizing Committee (nonlinmod@sgu.ru) together with the abstract of presentation before June 20, 2004. The registration form should be completed even if you have already sent it to the Organizing Committee after the first announcement.

Registration Form

  1. Full name (first, middle and surname)
  2. Affiliation and position
  3. Address for correspondence
  4. Telephone
  5. E-mail
  6. Title of presentation

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The abstract must be written in Russian or English language and should have the length of one full page. It should be prepared in LATEX format following the guidelines in the attached form thesis.tex. The figures in eps-format can be included in the abstract only in the case of absolute necessity. Abstract submission as the ASCII file is possible but is not desirable. Abstracts submitted in the other formats (for example, as MS-Word file) will be not published in the proceedings of the School.

CONFERENCE FEES

At present time the cost of accommodation in the hotel "Volzhskie Dali" is 750 RR per diem. The cost of accommodation for the whole 6-day period of the School is 4500 RR. The registration fee is 500 RR. We plan to support students and post-graduate students. The fees can be revised in the case of attraction of the new sponsors. The payment should be transfered after notification of the abstract acceptance. The letter of invitation will contain the number of bank account and the sum of the financial support.

The information about the accepted papers and the School program will be placed at the School site: WWW: http://cas.ssu.runnet.ru/chaos04.htm
